Pastoral letter:

Dear Friends,

Recently, I was participating in story hour at the library with my children. It is such a joy to see children singing and dancing, participating, and learning together. We are truly blessed to have children and youth in both churches. It was fun seeing the parents and grandparents singing, even dancing along to the music and listening to some stories. The church is not the church unless we are all there. Each of us is important, whether we were just born yesterday or whether we remember the last century and days gone by.

As we were all sitting together, the leader, Jason Poole, wrote a song with these words: “forgive me, I’ll forgive you; it’s the most that we can do. Loving one another’s not so bad. Just reach out, take a hand, we can save the world… “We’re all trying to do our best, everyone needs peace and rest and to know that we don’t have to hide. So reach out and take a hand. We can change the world.” Love will save us, if we let it in.” This is the good news that which we can share at Christmas. In the midst of all that is going on in our world, we have hope that the perfect love who came in the form of God with us, Emmanuel, will save us when we let him in. As Scripture reminds us, perfect love casts out all fear. Our Christian faith encourages trust and connection with those around us because God’s love made known to us in Christ Jesus will save us.

As we were out playing in the children’s area after story hour, a young boy came skipping into the room singing, “love will save us/ love will save us/ love will save us, if we let it in.” I saw God’s Kingdom being built before my eyes. Do you believe that God’s love can truly save us and our world? In Jesus’ day, there was pain, fear, and suffering, just like in today’s world. The hope and peace of Christmas come when we believe that love will save us if we let it in.

I hope and pray that you are able to take some time during this Advent and Christmas season to truly enjoy those around you and the love of Christ that surrounds you.

Good news…great joy…for all people!

Merry Christmas!

Pastor Kim
